SCHLOSS WEISSENBRUNN CULTURAL RETREAT

A successful start to our building plans

more

Ebern City Council in its meeting on 25 March 2021, unanimously approved the submitted development plan for the Cultural Retreat.
Schloss Weißenbrunn Cultural Retreat, with a concert house, a music academy, restaurants and a hotel with spa, will set new cultural, culinary and tourist accents for the region.

A House with Four Pillars
We want to create a place for communication and artistic encounters with an equal focus on culinary delights, music and nature.
The new building for the concert house will be particularly remarkable: it will house a concert hall with a view to the re-landscaped castle yard, as well as restaurants and a library. The Orangery with seminar rooms and artists’ rooms, especially designed for the Music Academy of the Schloss Weißenbrunn Foundation, will be adjacent

Sustainability, economic viability and a clear artistic vision
The peace and idyllic tranquillity of the Haßberge region is extremely special to us. We very much appreciate the privilege of being able to live here. In such a wonderful environment, we would like to set an encouraging example with an ambitious project, both ecologically and culturally, which with its high-quality contemporary architecture and garden design, is intended to become a tourist attraction in the region.
Developing this project to include high ecological standards both in construction and operation, as well as in the energy concept is a particular concern to us. We aim to keep its ecological footprint as small as possible and to implement it with innovative energy concepts, creating a truly future-oriented solution.
We have a very clear vision for the future: a stay in Weißenbrunn should inspire guests and keep resonating in their everyday lives for a long time to come. We look forward to creating a place for encounter where we will be able to welcome people from all over the world and make them enthusiastic about our adopted home region.

Architecture, Acoustics, Garden Design: Experts from all over Europe
The Cultural Retreat is being designed by the renowned Brixen architects’ office of bergmeisterwolf, winners of numerous awards, both at home and abroad, such as Best Architects, The Plan Award, Premio Architetto Italiano – 2019 Architects of the Year and 2022 nominees for the Mies van der Rohe Award.
In a competition, they prevailed against two equally renowned architectural offices, scoring particularly with their feeling for the atmosphere of the place, with a very convincing fusion of architecture and surrounding landscape as well as with their impressive portfolio of hotel buildings.
Eckhard Kahle of Kahle Acoustics, Brussels, will make sure that the acoustics are well-balanced. Viennese office Kieran Fraser Landscape Design will design the newly created squares and garden areas.
